Iran one step closer to WW3 over fears Iran could hit Europe | World | News

Fears of a Third World War rose today after a weapons expert warned that Iranian missiles were seriously underestimated because the Iranian regime has explosives capable of reaching London, Paris and Berlin. Tensions between the UK and Tehran have reached new heights in recent days following the launch of two ballistic missiles at the joint UK-US Diego Garcia military base.

The aggression prompted Keir Starmer to change his mind about the conflict, allowing America’s use of British sites to expand. As the UK military moves closer to the conflict, the light shines on its own territory amid fears that Iran may turn its sights towards Europe. Iran’s missiles were believed to have a range of 2,000 kilometers. However, after the last attack on the Diego Garcia base, they hit a target 3,800 km away from Tehran. Even though London is roughly 4,435 km away, the show of force has caused concern.

Nawaf Al-Thani, a foreign affairs analyst, warned that the new attack indicates that Iranian power may have been overlooked. Mr Al-Thani added: “Iran may have demonstrated reach far beyond what much of the world believes it has. Paris is moving into range. London is moving much closer to the edge of vulnerability, depending on launch point and payload.”

“This means that the missile threat is no longer limited to the Gulf, Israel, or parts of South Asia. It means that the sphere of influence of deterrence, defense, and fear has expanded dramatically. If confirmed, Diego Garcia was not just a target. It was a message.”

Israel also warned that Europe could soon become involved in the war. Defense Minister Israel Katz said attacks would “intensify” next week, with a “significant” increase.

The IDF stated that the Diego Garcia attack was the first time Iran launched a long-range missile capable of reaching a distance of approximately 4,000 km since the beginning of the war.

A spokesman claimed in a statement: “The Iranian terrorist regime poses a global threat. Its missiles can now reach London, Paris or Berlin.”

However, none of the Iranian missiles hit the facility in the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean, as one of the Iranian missiles reportedly malfunctioned during flight and the other was intercepted by the United States.

Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said: “This is the latest in a series of reckless attacks by Iran targeting Gulf partners, international shipping and allies as well as British interests.

“That’s why we’ve continued to support defensive action to support UK interests, including offensive action against ballistic missile threats. We want to see a resolution to this conflict as quickly as possible that supports regional security and stability, because we need it for the security of the UK but also for our economy.”

Retired Royal Navy Commander Steve Perst warned that this move was Iran flexing its muscles and showing “look what we can do”.

Mr Perst added: “Ballistic missiles are space rockets. They are launched, go very high and come down very quickly. If you have a space programme, you have a ballistic missile programme.”
