King Charles ‘regrets’ taking firm action against Andrew and is ‘backtracking’ | Royal | News

King Charles “regrets” Andrew Mountbatten took harsh action against Windsor, according to a source. It comes as Andrew suffers from “behind-the-scenes disruptions”, including no longer being able to access all of his staff at the Royal Lodge.
Daily Mail columnistEphraim Hardcastle writes: “As well as losing his titles, gongs and manor, Andrew suffered behind-the-scenes disruptions, including the sacking of Royal staff funded by the King, the end of takeaways from Windsor Castle’s kitchens, and an edict demanding that he remain out of sight until he could eventually be relocated.”
The columnist also writes: Andrew’s latest request is not “to reduce him to a commoner.” Going back slowly, the King reportedly “phoned Andrew frequently” and “restored access to staff and stables”.
In another snub, the former Duke of York and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson were also reportedly not invited to spend the Christmas festivities at Sandringham with the wider Royal Family.
It comes after the former prince was forced to renounce all his remaining titles, including Duke of York, following continued coverage of his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The news comes after excerpts from the memoirs of Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre were published after her death. Prince Andrew continued to deny all accusations against him.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is understood to have voluntarily surrendered his gun licence, following a recent visit from the Metropolitan Police.
Officers attended the former prince’s Royal Lodge residence in Windsor last month, ahead of an expected house move in the new year.
A Met Police spokesman said: “On Wednesday 19 November, Metropolitan Police firearms licensing officers attended an address in Windsor to demand that a man in his 60s voluntarily surrender his firearms and shotgun certificate.”
Police said the certificate had been handed over but had no further comment.
Andrew is expected to move into Sandringham Manor in the new year after being stripped of his titles over his links to former pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
The former prince will move to an undisclosed property, thought to be Marsh Farm on the Sandringham estate, which is the private property of his brother King Charles.
