Kingdom of Kubala: Members of ‘lost tribe’ ordered to leave private land in Scottish Borders

An order was given to remove a tribe that declared itself from special lands on the Scottish borders.

On Friday, a sheriff ordered three members of the Kubala Kingdom.

They have been camping in Woodland near Jedburgh for the last few weeks.

Şerif Peter Paterson said he would enter into force at the Jedburgh Sharif Court on Friday morning.

The members of the “Kingdom” said that they had taken back the land stolen from their ancestors 400 years ago.

The legal case was brought after the trio ignored a previous evacuation notification that told them to leave their camps at 17:00 on September 8th.

The group includes King Alenene, 43 -year -old wife Jean Gasho and his wife Jean Gasho, who calls Queen Nandi, and the leader Kofi Offeh, the leader Kaura Taylor, who named him asnat.

None of the group was in court and had no legal representation.

In a video previously published by the group in Tiktok, Mr. Offeh and Mrs. Gasho can be seen by an official while singing and dancing with the court newspapers in the camp.

Previously, Jedburgh Assembly Member Scott Hamilton said the landowner had no choice but to take orders from the sheriff.

“The camper group clearly ignored the ultimatum given by the Sharif on Friday, September 5,” he said.

“This is disappointing, but I cannot say that the group is not surprising, given the previous behavior of the group.”

Mr. Hamilton said the landowner had no choice but to apply for an order and intervention.

The authority said the council would support the landowner in the next steps.

“All additional security measures will remain in place until this is resolved.

“Can I remind people that they will not interact with this group while this next stage of the evacuation process is revealed?”

“This week, the legal representative acting for the wooden land owner in Jedburgh, which was occupied by three campers this week, notified to leave.

“On Monday, September 8, 2025 at 17:00, a deadline was determined. Three people could not comply with the notification.

“It was recommended that the application was made to the court for an order given by the Sharif.”
