Kinross bushfire: Watch and act advice for residents around Mac Naughton Park, warning of ‘ember attack’

There is a danger to life and property in parts of Kinross as embers from the bushfire are likely to be scattered around homes.
Firefighters are trying to extinguish the fire, which broke out in woodland near Connolly Drive and Grangemouth Turn at around 4.40pm on Sunday.
A bushfire watch and action warning is in place for people in the area as embers from the fire are scattered around homes, potentially causing more fires.
Residents are asked to leave now if they can, unless they plan to stay and defend their homes. The fire got out of control and could not be brought under control.
“There is a possible threat to life and homes as a fire has broken out in the area and conditions have changed,” the fire and emergency services department said.
“Remove flammable materials such as doormats, wheelie bins and outdoor furniture from your home.
“If you plan to stay and defend, make sure you are mentally and physically prepared with protective clothing and independent water supply.
“Now make final preparations and begin patrolling your property to extinguish fires.”
Residents subject to watch and movement advice issued by DFES are located west of the fire on Kinross Drive, south on Kirkdale Turn, east on Tynron Way and north on Grangemouth Turn. The affected area includes several homes, Mac Naughton Park, Callander Park and Kinross Primary School.
