Kolhapuri Chappals in Hyderabad Gain New Life with Row in Milan

Haydarabad: Kolhapuri Chappals, traditional handmade leather shoes from Maharashtra, is preparing to revive the flat leather sandals in RS 1.2 Lakh during the spring/summer 2026 Milan men’s clothing show. GI labeled shoes, the symbol of Indian crafts that had been centuries ago, were allocated by the Italian luxury label. It led to a great debate about cultural theft and giving the rights to artisans.

The global spotlight showed a new interest in Haydarabad, the Swapnalok complex in Secunderabad, the old city of Abids, Nayaab Hotel, near Nayaab Hotel, the clusters of Kolhapuri sales points. Fashion Technology Specialist and Analyst Saijal Motwani foresees a local sales explosion and said that “demand took the viral coverage of consumers back to these inheritance handicrafts and encouraged artisans to try new, trendy designs”.

They’ve been dedicated for a long time. Corporate Director Akanksha Chatterjee remembers the pairing of sandals with wolves, oxidized Jhumkas and Kohl -mouthed eyes on college days and says to them, “comfortable, stylish and brave traditions”.

Traders see early symptoms of renewed curiosity. Mohammed Pasha, who has been running Ruby shoes near Swapnalok for 35 years, can return soon on Kolhapuris’s bright days from 2005 to 2015: “Saturday afternoon customers began to fall to control new styles.” Sohil Khan, one of the Kolhapuri handicrafts in Abids, reports that there is a stable interest ranging from 350 to 1,500 with its peak sales in the summer and wedding season near the Charminar list prices to the couples of white, black, brown and yellow.

Industrial observers believe that Milan’s approval can turn into a continuous revival for the symbol of this humble but permanent Indian workmanship.
