Kristin Cabot slams Gwyneth Paltrow over Coldplay kiss cam controversy

Kristin Cabot is bored.
The woman at the center of the viral Coldplay kiss cam scandal is striking back after her former employer entered the fray with a Gwyneth Paltrow ad that Cabot said crossed the line.
“I was a big fan of his company [Goop]”It seemed to be about cheering women up,” Cabot said. Times. “And then he did it. ‘I thought, ‘How dare he, after the beating he got for the whole conscious disengagement thing?’ What a hypocritical person.”

In July, Cabot, who became head of Astronomer’s HR, was spotted at a Coldplay concert in the arms of her married boss, Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, when the band’s kisscam spotted them. They quickly drifted apart, causing singer Chris Martin to speculate that they might be having an affair. Those moments went viral overnight.
Shortly after, Astronomer recruited Paltrow to appear in a tongue-in-cheek ad promoting the company; It was a move that reopened wounds from a moment that stunned Cabot and turned her personal and professional life upside down.
Cabot’s anger appeared to stem from what she saw as a betrayal of Paltrow’s image as a women-first wellness emperor.

Paltrow, who popularized the term “conscious uncoupling” around the time of her divorce from Martin, has long positioned herself as a voice for empathy and self-awareness.

According to The Times, Cabot got rid of Goop products in protest.

The Coldplay concert moment quickly became an internet storm; Memes, speculation, and intense scrutiny ensued. Cabot described what some people considered a joke online as a life-changing event with real-world consequences.
In a recent interview with the New York Times, Cabot described how “a few High Luncheons” led him to a now-infamous moment and detailed the consequences that followed.

“I made a bad decision and had several lunches, dances and inappropriate behavior with my boss,” Cabot said.

“And that’s nothing. I took responsibility and gave up my career for it. That’s the price I choose to pay. I want my kids to know that you can make mistakes and really mess up. But you don’t need to be threatened with being killed for them.”

Cabot, who was separated from her husband during the concert, said that she received death threats because of the kiss footage.

After video of the concert went viral, Byron went on leave and later resigned from the company, as did Cabot.
Cabot said the scandal turned her family’s life upside down, but she and her children now find some peace as they try to move forward.
