Krystal Ball condemns Latino ICE officers, says they betray their community

Liberal podcaster and former MSNBC host Krystal Ball condemned Latin Americans serving in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in an interview on Tuesday.

The ball is on the field “I experienced this” The Trump administration’s immigration policies were discussed in the podcast hosted by Jennifer Welch and Angie “Pumps” Sullivan.

“I think one of the core traits of conservatives is not caring about anything until it directly affects you,” said Ball, who hosts the political podcast “Breaking Points.” “How many times have you heard, ‘Now that I have this health issue, or my child has this health issue, I see the problem with the healthcare system’ or ‘now that my community has been affected, I see racism and I see that it’s a big problem’?”

He continued, “It has to impact them directly. I mean, let’s talk about empathy. I mean, it’s like it completely lacks the ability to project downward. ‘Okay, what does this ideology mean to me’ or ‘what does this do to other people’ and ‘what does this mean for their lives?’ “It just has to directly impact them before they realize what the problem is.”

Co-host Jennifer Welch brought up how Ball had expressed anger at ICE, prompting the former MSNBC host to say that Latino ICE agents were willing to go one step further and target their own groups.

“I’m saying it’s related to that, right?” he said. “Not only do you have no moral compass — and how many times have you seen these guys, you can’t see their whole face because they’re wearing their masks, but what you can see is a guy with a brown skin tone and a last name that sounds like it’s probably something like ‘Lopez’ or ‘Hernandez’ or something like that,” he said. “It’s like what’s wrong with you? Not only do you have no morals, you also seem to have no ability to protect yourself.”

Ball later claimed that self-described “Heritage Americans,” who claim descent from America’s founding settlers, do not consider Latino ICE officers to be legitimate Americans.

“These people hate you. They hate you. They hate your family. They hate your children. They hate your future grandchildren. They don’t think you belong here,” he said. “You are not a quote-unquote ‘heritage American.’ You will never belong. And you are the one who commits violence against your own society. I can’t wrap my head around this.”

ICE did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
