Manju Kumari Sinha, popularly known as Manju Devi, was born in an educated family and pursued a teaching career. Before coming to public attention, she worked as a teacher at Kamla Nehru Government Girls’ School in Patna. Marriage and Family Life

Manju married Nitish Kumar on February 22, 1973, while she was still a student at Bihar Engineering College (now NIT Patna). The couple shared a strong bond throughout their married life and had a son named Nishant Kumar. Despite being married to a future political leader, Manju kept a low public profile, focusing on family and quietly but firmly supporting Nitish’s career.

He visits his memorial in Patna’s Kankarbagh on his birth and death anniversaries and also pays tributes at his hometown Kalyan Bigha in Nalanda district.
