Kuki-Zo group agrees to open National Highway-2 for free movement after talks with Centre

The MHA said on Thursday to open the National Highway-02 for the free movement of vehicles and basic goods.
With an important decision, the KUKİ-ZO Council on Thursday decided to open the National Highway-2 for the free movement of vehicles and basic goods in Manipur. In the last few days, the movement has been following a series of meetings between the Ministry of Interior officials (MHA) and the KUKİ-ZO Council delegation in the new Delhi.
Discussions aimed to address the long -term blockade, which disrupts the movement of goods and vehicles and caused difficulties to residents in the state.
“The KUKİ-ZO Council committed a commitment to cooperate with the security forces deployed by the Indian government to protect peace throughout NH-2,” MHA said in a statement. He said.
NH-2, an important life line that combines Manipur with Nagaland and the northeast, was blocked among the ethnic tensions that exploded in the state in May 2023. First of all, the conflict between Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities led to violence, loss of life, loss of life, loss of life, and deepening humanitarian crisis.
The reopening of the highway is seen as a step towards recovering normality in the state affected by violence. Authorities in both Imphal and the new Delhi believe that alleviating access to basic commodities will help reduce the difficulties faced by displaced families and civilians living in aid camps.
MHA also side by side, MHA representatives, Manipur Government and the National Organization of the National Organization (KNO) and the United People’s Front (UPF), a tripartite meeting was held today in the new Delhi, he said.
The MHA resulted in the signing of a triple operation (SOO) agreement on the re -negotiated conditions and conditions (basic rules).
In addition to other provisions, the ministry said that the reviewed basic rules reiterated the “regional integrity of Manipur and a need for a negotiated solution to bring permanent peace and stability to Manipur”.
“The National Organization and the United People’s Front, the CUD National Organization and the United People’s Front, to move away from the vulnerable areas against the conflict, to reduce the number of camps determined, to replace the weapons with the nearest central reserve police force (BSF) and border security camps and the security forces, if there is anything by the security forces,” he said.
According to MHA, the joint monitoring group will follow the implementation of the ground rules closely and violations will be made in the future, including the review of the SOO agreement.
