IndiGo cancels scores of flights from Bengaluru, Hyderabad airports amid crew crunch; airline cites ‘technology issues’

Airlines are experiencing crew shortages following the implementation of new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) from 1 November.

FDTL limits the maximum amount of time pilots and flight crews can work to prevent fatigue and ensure safety.

On time performance
The Gurugram-based airline posted an on-time performance of just 35% on Tuesday, the lowest among all Indian airlines, according to civil aviation ministry data. IndiGo’s on-time performance this year has generally been above 80% at India’s major airports, including Delhi and Mumbai.
The outages follow an air traffic control system outage at Delhi airport that delayed hundreds of flights by many airlines last month.
Some IndiGo flights at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad were also affected by technology and operational issues, resulting in delays and cancellations.
RGIA Hyderabad said operations at RGIA are continuing normally and passengers are requested to contact IndiGo’s customer care team directly for latest updates on flight status.
Nearly 600 flights were delayed at India’s three busiest airports – Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru – as of 0909 GMT on Wednesday, with more than two-thirds of the delays originating from Delhi, according to data from Flightradar24.
IndiGo has a domestic market share of over 60% and operates over 2,200 flights per day and is steadily expanding internationally.
In a social media post published on X on Wednesday, Delhi Airport said some domestic airlines are experiencing “operational difficulties”, which may lead to delays or schedule changes.
