Professionals will receive salary increases of 16.5% condensed over four and a half years. They voted 91% in favor of the agreement. Of the approximately 800 employees involved, 86% voted.

Negotiations between the two parties took place over a year. Professionals even went on an overtime strike for 16 days.

“We are satisfied with this agreement which provides real job security, further regulates subcontracting, maintains achievements and offers more flexibility in the organization of working time,” explains Marc Glogowski, president of the union which represents professionals, SEPB-610.

These professionals include employees in accounting, procurement, real estate and town planning.

The use of subcontracting was the main point of dispute between the two parties. The union wanted to ensure it “maintained expertise internally,” while protecting the jobs of its members.

For its part, the STM affirmed that it needed more flexibility to reduce its costs, given its “unprecedented” financial situation. In 2026, the STM must generate savings of 56 million, according to Marie-Claude Léonard.

The STM is still in a labor dispute with its 2,400 maintenance employees.
