Records Broken by Teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in This IPL Season
IPL 2026 has witnessed legends, but few have shaken up the tournament like 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. In a season full of jaw-dropping knocks, Rajasthan Royals’ opening batsman rewrote history.
In the qualifying match against Sun Risers Hyderabad, Sooryavanshi played an aggressive and tremendous knock of 97 runs in just 29 balls, just 1 innings away from breaking Chris Gayle’s iconic 100 runs in just 30 balls in IPL 2013. However, unfortunately the opener lost his wicket in the 29th ball of his innings and missed out on the record for the fastest IPL T-20 century.
But even without the century, Sooryavanshi rewrote many IPL records created by legends of the game, including one of the most iconic milestones by Chris Gayle. He surpassed Gayle’s 14-year-old record for most sixes in an IPL season and now sits alone at the top with a maximum of 65. During his explosive innings, he hit 12 sixes and repeatedly sent the ball deep into the stands. Legend of the game and SRH captain Pat Cummins conceded 4 sixes to the young prodigy and completed the match with unforgettable figures of 0 for 64 in 4 overs. SRH bowlers had no answer to Sooryavanshi’s bat.
