Labor Dept. internal watchdog launches probe of BLS data collection

The Ministry of Labor General Inspectorate Office said on Wednesday that the Office of the Labor Statistics has reviewed the “challenges” that he faced in his efforts to collect data.

The internal guard dog said in a letter that BLS announced a decrease in data collection for two basic inflation metric.

The review also comes in the light of BLS’s recent “monthly employment status report offers a major downward revision of new business estimation”.

The letter was sent to William Wiatrowski, who has served as BLS’s acting commissioner since President Donald Trump fired the old head of the agency at the beginning of August.
