Australia
Labor has already abandoned net zero in all but name

One of the longest-running problems with climate coverage in Australia is an over-focus on situation descriptions and too little focus on the raw physicality of the problem.
The “climate wars” framework directly points to this; The real fights here are not about whether we prevent as much of the Earth’s atmosphere from overheating as possible, but rather about petty political debates and horse racing journalism.
The fragmented, scattered debate within the coalition on whether to maintain or halt the commitment to reduce emissions to “net zero” was also presented in the same context.
