Landslip near Nemmar: Vehicle movement on Sringeri-S.K Border affected in Chikkamagaluru district

The movement of the vehicles on the National Highway-169 (NH), which connects the Sringer and SK limit, broke down on Sunday, June 15, 2025 after a landslide near Nemmar in the Chikkamagamaluru region.

Earth’s slip at around 2 o’clock was reported. The local police placed barricades to avoid unwanted events. Koppa SP Deputy Balaji Singh assigned the staff to manage the situation.

The vehicles on the busy road connecting Sringer to Karkala in the Udipi region were directed through the bidaragodu-agumbe route. Indian National Highway Authority (NHAI) and Fire and Emergency Services officers also ran to the scene.

Chikamagamaluru police, “the debris cleaned and restored the traffic movement at 9 am on Sunday, June 15, 2025,” he said.

The Chickamagaluru Regional Administration issued a consulting note to tourists visiting the region during heavy rains to be careful as landslides may occur.
