Anthony Albanese speaks at National Press Club after address to the nation
Should Prime Minister Anthony Albanese have given Australians more information in his national speech last night?
This was the question asked to Defense Minister Richard Marles on the ABC RN Breakfast a short time ago.
On the same radio show, Liberal leader Dan Tehan said:
He could also tell us what he was having for dinner…nothing new in that. [the speech]. “I think everyone was stunned after last night.”
Here’s what Marles said:
Australians are understandably worried about what’s going on. It is in this context that the prime minister rightly wanted to speak directly to the Australian people about what they have been through, what the future holds and, importantly, what the government is doing and what Australians can do. He announced this last night.”
On ABC TV, Marles said he “won’t speculate on details other than pointing to the national fuel security plan” when pressed about whether the Prime Minister was preparing the country to expect tougher fuel-saving measures after Easter.
