Dog accidentally shoots owner with shotgun in Pennsylvania home accident

A 53-year-old man was injured Tuesday night at his home in Berks County, Pennsylvania, after his dog allegedly shot him with a shotgun.
According to a report from the local news channel, police were called to the home about a shooting around 11:15 p.m. WFMZ.
Investigators learned the gunshots occurred after the man placed his shotgun on the bed while cleaning it, leaving an unlikely suspect behind.

A furry friend in the house reportedly jumped on the bed, causing the gun to fire and the bullet hitting the man in the back.
The man, whose identity has not yet been publicly disclosed, was taken to a local hospital and underwent surgery due to his injuries.
It is not yet known how old and what breed the four-legged suspect is.

The incident comes less than a month after a North Carolina deputy fire chief’s dog chewed on a lithium-ion battery, sparking a house fire.
Chapel Hill Fire Department Deputy Chief David Sasser’s dog, Colton, allegedly “counter-surfed” while his owner was away and got his hands on the not-so-tasty treat.

“Colton is a good kid, but while his men were away, he counter-surfed and seized a device with a lithium-ion battery,” the fire department wrote in a Facebook post.
Colton escaped with minimal smoke exposure, but the department said he was no longer trusted to leave unattended without a crate.
