Latest on Trump administration’s imprisonment of Maduro in NYC on terrorism charges, plans for oil and leadership, Colombia, Cuba threats

The United Nations said on Monday it was “deeply concerned” by the United States’ lack of respect for the rule of international law and the precedents it can set.

“I am deeply concerned about the possible intensification of instability in the country, its potential impact on the region, and the precedent it could set for how relations between states are conducted,” United Nations secretary-general António Guterres said in a statement.

The statement was read at an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Monday (Tuesday AEDT).

The comments reflect broad concern among Washington’s allies following the dramatic US military action and new comments from President Donald Trump following the push to seize Greenland.
