Laura Woods reveals gruesome eye injury after horror accident during romantic getaway with Love Island star fiancé Adam Collard

TNT Sports host Laura Woods has opened up about the horrific eye injury she suffered during a romantic getaway with fiancé Adam Collard in 2024.

Woods, 38, was enjoying a trip with the Love Island star in May that year when a freak accident left him needing emergency surgery.

The broadcaster said that as he tried to throw a pillow at Collard he hit a light shadow, which cracked on the roof and ‘came down’ to his head and back.

Woods was hospitalized and had to withdraw from watching the match between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk a few days later, and then drove about five hours to London for plastic surgery.

She has yet to open up about the terrifying ordeal but now, nearly 18 months later, the mother-of-one has shared a handful of horrific images of her injuries.

The first photo, titled ‘Such a bad day, these cuts went down to the bone’, showed a serious wound above and below Woods’ eye.

The 38-year-old, who also leads Amazon Prime’s Champions League coverage, shared post-surgery photos showing the wounds around his face covered in bandages.

He also suffered injuries to the back of his arms. One photo showed Woods bleeding from his right elbow, with the caption: ‘The back of my arm was a bit messy too, but I can’t see that much.’

Woods has since undergone ‘lots of red light therapy’ in an attempt to return his face to its pre-injury state, but admitted he went through ‘an ugly phase where the scars appeared to be receding’. He happily called that period the ‘Bear Grylls scene’.

In a bid to combat the injuries, the Arsenal supporter also revealed he tried a ‘big laser’, which he described as ‘painful and expensive’.

Woods added: ‘I’m going to try a big laser to see if I can help make the scars appear. So if you have any scars and want to ask questions, shoot for it.

‘You can pinpoint the location of the scar if you want, but the skin will be different from the rest of your face. And full disclosure – it was painful. It is also expensive. ‘It feels like I’ve been put in the toaster, but I hope it’s all worth it.’

But following the accident, Woods and Collard discovered they were expecting a child together, which meant she had to ‘stop treatment and focus on the little person’.

That little human, baby Leo, was born in January 2025, and Woods admitted he’s doing much better now, despite losing some of his confidence.

Responding to a follower’s question, he wrote: ‘Yes definitely (I lost my confidence). In photos, when I smile, frown, etc. I can see the scars.

‘But having a baby blew my mind. I didn’t forget to eat and brush my teeth either hahah.’

Collard and Woods, known for their controversial stints on Love Island and then Celebrity SAS, went public with their relationship after they started dating in October 2023.

They got engaged in September 2024 after the 30-year-old proposed on a beach in St Ives, Cornwall.
