Panic as Tiger Blocks Traffic on Maharashtra Highway for 30 Minutes

Travelers on Maharashtra’s Chandrapur-Moharli road were shocked earlier this week when a tiger was spotted sitting in the middle of the highway, bringing traffic to a complete halt for about 30 minutes. Dramatic videos shared online show the tiger resting fearlessly on the road, with vehicles lining up on both sides, drivers keeping a safe distance and recording the rare sight.
As the big cat continued to sit undisturbed, traffic intensified and long queues of cars and two-wheelers formed. Forestry directorate officials arrived at the scene in a short time and checked the situation to ensure the safety of the public. The tiger finally stood up and calmly walked into the forest, clearing the path. No injuries or property damage were reported.
The Chandrapur-Moharli region near the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve has seen an increase in wildlife encounters in recent months. Just last month, a tigress was reported to have attacked passing two-wheelers on the same road. Described by locals as “Mother Male”, the tiger sighting this week has seen multiple sightings in the area, leading to increased safety concerns for daily commuters.
Authorities are expected to review safety protocols and signage for the route due to the increased frequency of big cat sightings.
