Maelys Mpome: Brighton defender ‘up and about’ after being knocked out at Arsenal

Vidosic said the concerns of Mpome’s teammates as they chased Brighton’s equalizing goal may have affected their performance.

Brighton fell behind in the first half after a Marisa Olislager own goal but improved and forced Arsenal goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar into several saves.

However, after Mpome’s injury, they failed to create many positions and the home team came close to scoring a goal in the last moments.

“It’s never nice to see your teammate get injured,” Vidosic said. “Maybe that played a role, too, and fatigue.

“We tried to push everyone as hard as we could safely, but maybe the 10-minute stoppage broke the rhythm of the game.”

Mpome joined Brighton from WSL champions Chelsea in the summer and made her fifth league appearance for the Seagulls.
