Leicestershire summer camp poisoning: Jon Ruben remanded in custody over alleged incident in Stathern
A 76 -year -old man was detained after allegedly connected with desserts in a child’s summer camp in Leicestershire.
Jon Ruben from Wayte Court in Rudddington, Nottinghamshire, was accused of child persecution of three boys in the summer camp on July 25-29.
He was accused of deliberately attacked, ill -treatment, neglect, abandoning or exposing children, causing children to unnecessary pain or health injury.
On Sunday, Leicestershire police reported that the children in Stathern Canal Lodge became ill.
Eight children, all men aged eight to 11 years and an adult were taken to hospital.
Police said they’ve been discharged since then.
Wearing a gray sweatshirt on the quay, the defendant spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address during a four -minute hearing.
Ruben was told that he would later appear by the president of the magistrate Elizabeth Needham. Leicester Crown Court on August 29th.
He did not give any symptoms of his satisfaction during the hearing on Saturday.
On Monday evening, Ruben was arrested in a nearby Pub on suspicion of something harmful with the intention of applying poison or injury, aggression or disturbing.
“Stathern Lodge’s owners and operators are independent of people who use Lodge or are independent of those who are not affiliated with the event,” the police said.
Lodge is a transformed farmhouse with a gym and catering facilities.
The investigation is managed by the major event team of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit.
Leicestershire police said that the incident took place on Monday before the incident changed on Sunday and directed him to the independent office for police behavior.
