Car wash attendant booked for assaulting couple in Varthur

Varthur police have registered an obscure report against a car wash attendant and his three friends for breaking into the house of a drunk working couple and assaulting them and locking them inside their house on Friday night.

The accused also allegedly threatened the couple and warned them of dire consequences if they filed a complaint.

Victims Samrat Dafadar, 35, and his wife Meem Begum, 27, said: Hindu He said the incident occurred when they had just returned home from the mobile sales and service shop and were about to have dinner. Allegedly, the defendant knocked on the door, calling Meem Begum by name.

It was claimed that when Samrat opened the door, the drunk men tried to break in. It was alleged that after she resisted and raised the alarm, the suspect dragged her out of the house and beat her. They also tried to snatch the gold chain he was wearing but he managed to hold it.

Meem Begum rushed to her husband’s aid but was allegedly punched in the face by one of the defendants who was holding a sharp object in his hand. He suffered injuries. The defendant then allegedly pushed the couple back into the house and locked the house from the outside before escaping.

The incident took place at BDA EWS apartment complex in Gunjur Palya, where many families reside.

Samrat later managed to call the police, who arrived at the scene and rescued the couple.

The couple moved into the flat 3 months ago and this was their second incident. According to Samrat, the main accused Manju is a driver and a habitual criminal. He was previously a tenant in the same house, but was allegedly asked to vacate by the landlord due to his unruly behavior.

After the couple moved out, Manju allegedly started targeting them and harassing Meem Begum by making lewd comments. “We had complained to the landlord before, but he asked us to inform him if it happens again. We fear for our safety, especially since the neighbors did not come to our aid,” Samrat said.

Police said Manju was involved in similar cases before.
