Germany’s Merz urges Russia to end ‘aggression’ against Ukraine
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz once again called on Russia to end its war of aggression against Ukraine.
“Russia has launched an illegal war of aggression. Now Russia must finally put an end to this aggression that has brought terrible human suffering to Europe,” Merz said at the first working session of the G20 summit in South Africa on Saturday, according to government sources. he said.
He noted that Russia also has a responsibility to end the massive impact of the war on the global economy.
All other members of the G20 must also fulfill their responsibilities, not only in terms of economic interests.
“We owe this to all the people in the world; this is the biggest challenge for the G20,” Merz told his counterparts. he said.
The most important issue on the sidelines of the summit is the US’s new 28-article peace plan for Ukraine.
Russia is represented at the summit in Johannesburg by Maxim Oreshkin, deputy head of the presidential administration, as Russian President Vladimir Putin is not there.
Many other countries, including China and the United States, also did not send their senior leaders. The USA is boycotting the meeting completely.
