The Costco Peanut Butter Recall That Bankrupted The Brand That Made It

Why did this recall lead Sunland to apply for bankruptcy

Until November, 42 people in 20 states became ill from Sunland’s bacteria. Although no death was reported, 10 people have been hospitalized and some may have thought of making homemade peanut butter in the future. Therefore, the recall canceled the record of the Sunland facility in the FDA, Portales, New Mexico after a month after the expansion of hundreds of products. The agency had taken such a step for the first time.
The FDA announced that its decision was based on the outbreak at the Sunland Factory and a long history of health violations.
