Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool fills with water after work, repainting

WASHINGTON (WDCW) – Water began flowing into the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on Thursday, weeks after crews began work there, including a controversial repainting of the landmark’s grounds.
President Donald Trump announced repairs would be made in April. That same month, workers drained the pool.
On Wednesday, Trump shared: Real Social Stating that the last protection layer in the pool will be completed by 16.00, the President noted that “The water will start flowing in a short time.” Citizens who visited the reflection pool on Wednesday were disappointed to see that the pool was not filled.

In the project, which was carried out in preparation for the 250th anniversary celebrations of the United States of America in July, work was also carried out on the walking paths around the pool.
The final cost was expected to be between $13 million and $20 million, at least 10 times the original estimate.
