Traffic chaos erupts as tanker rolls along major inner-city Melbourne intersection, entrance to West Gate Freeway blocked

A truck has rolled over at one of Melbourne’s busiest urban junctions, causing rush hour traffic chaos for motorists.
The truck is understood to have rolled over at the intersection of Montague Street and Wurundjeri Road in South Pier, just before the West Gate Highway, at around 2.15pm.
Wild footage captured by 7News shows the moment the tanker attempted to negotiate a bend in the highway before flipping and landing on its side.

An alert from Vic Traffic says three outgoing lanes on Wurundjeri Road and the entrance to the West Gate Highway are blocked.
“Consider (using) the Kings Way to reach the Burnley Tunnel,” the statement reads.

Victoria Police said the driver of the truck and the sole occupant were not injured.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedics responded to the scene and the driver was transported to Alfred Hospital.
More to come.
