Lions’ Amon-Ra St Brown addresses Trump dance at Commanders game

Detroit Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown apologized to anyone who was “offended” by his praise of President Donald Trump during his team’s victory over the Washington Commanders on Sunday.

St. After scoring, Brown performed Trump’s signature dance and then gestured to the president in attendance at Northwest Stadium.

The wide receiver addressed the incident and the public reaction during an episode of his podcast on Wednesday.

“I’m sorry if I offended anyone. I didn’t mean to offend anyone. We were just having fun,” he said. “If there had been any president at that game, if they had danced, I would have done it. It had nothing to do with who the president was.”

Trump became the first US president to attend a regular season NFL game since Jimmy Carter in 1978.

The boos came at a time when Trump’s opinion in the Washington, D.C. area has been affected by the recent government shutdown. Days before the game, ESPN reported that Trump wanted the Commanders’ new $3.7 billion stadium project to be named after him.

The White House did not confirm the report, but press secretary Karoline Leavitt said earlier, “That would certainly be a nice name, because it was President Trump who made the rebuilding of the new stadium possible.”
