A father who killed his five-week-old daughter called 999 after she suffered “catastrophic” brain damage following a series of attacks.
On Monday, March 16, Sean Jefferson, 35, of Birch Court, Walsall, was found guilty of two counts of murdering Darcy-Leigh Jefferson and also of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.
The hearing stated that Darcy, who was born five weeks prematurely on February 20, 2022, was “repeatedly physically attacked” and had a total of 47 rib fractures when she died on March 27 that year.
In the audio shared by Staffordshire Police, Sean is seen calling 999 and saying he “needs an ambulance quickly. My baby has stopped breathing.”
Darcy’s mother, Amy Clark, 34, was also found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child and two counts of causing or permitting serious harm to a child.
Both will be sentenced at a later date.
