‘Live’ EP reacts to Howie Mandel’s video apology to Kelly Ripa

The executive producer of “Live with Kelly and Mark” weighs in on Howie Mandel’s apology for refusing to accept the TV star’s compliment.
On the March 23 episode, Mandel claimed that telling someone they “look great” for their age “doesn’t mean anything.” A few days after the episode aired, Mandel uploaded a video to social mediaHe publicly apologizes to Ripa.

Gelman commented, “The one thing we can all agree on in these divisive times is that you look great for your age.”

Gelman’s trend was joined by others. Comedian Tom Bergeon wrote: “This is the smoothest spin on self-love I’ve ever seen, other than morning chats with my mirror.”

Terry Crews commented, “I’m sorry you look so good.” Stephen Baldwin wrote: “Everything’s going as planned Howie, you don’t have to apologize for anything ’cause you’re so young and beautiful and that’s all that matters, keep in mind and the infinity of vanity is a discovery too late.”

At the beginning of the video, the “America’s Got Talent” judge said he “debated for 48 hours whether or not I should post this” because he doesn’t usually apologize for his jokes.

“But this is for Kelly Ripa, who has been incredibly supportive in the past,” he said. “Not only am I a guest on his show, but I co-host with him and have known him for years. … When I go out there I just try to be funny and entertaining, and sometimes as a comedian things don’t go your way.”

To conclude his video message, Mandel told viewers that “after a lot of thought and self-reflection, I look really great for my age.”

“I look great and I have to accept the fact that I look this good,” Mandel said.
