Taylor Sheridan’s secretive ‘Yellowstone’ prequel ‘1944’ is still in the works at Paramount, report says
Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming “Yellowstone” prequel “1944” is getting its first update in a long time.
Sheridan is the creative genius responsible for the neo-Western that has taken the entertainment world by storm.
Instead of just being one and done, the “Yellowstone” creator quickly expanded the show’s universe. This includes the prequels “1883” and “1923,” “Marshals” on CBS and “Dutton Ranch” on Paramount+.

“1944” is being updated.
One of the prequels that has seemingly disappeared from the discourse is “1944.” The series has been known for years but is almost never discussed or in the news.

There are literally no plot details or other information floating around.
Is it still happening or has Sheridan moved on? Now we seem to have found the answer.

Madd Webb Mitovich (via MovieWeb) Lately reported A secret “Yellowstone” prequel series is said to be definitely in the works at Paramount.

This matches The Hollywood Reporter’s reporting last October. TR reported He said “1944” is still in Sheridan’s plans after signing a massive deal with NBCUniversal.

The most interesting is how the story of “1944” will develop. There are many ways to go. Many major male characters in the “Yellowstone” universe were former actors.
Spencer Dutton fought in World War I, John Dutton fought in Vietnam, and Kayce Dutton is a battle-hardened Navy SEAL. I can make an educated guess that the main male protagonist of “1944” would have seen combat in World War II.
I have no idea what will happen next, except that the Montana ranch will remain the focal point, just like in “1923” and “Yellowstone.”
