Insane moment huge plane hits Heathrow runway in dramatic tail strike | UK | News

DHL Airbus A300 aircraft suffered a tail impact while trying to land at London Heathrow Airport on Sunday, October 12. As seen in dramatic footage shot by aviation live broadcaster BigJetTV, the large aircraft, registered D-AEAG, can be seen bouncing along the runway several times before the pilots attempted a quick go-around, causing the undercarriage to crash onto the tarmac.

The UK’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch is currently investigating the incident and the runway was briefly closed to air traffic for a rapid investigation. A 34-year-old DHL Airbus A300-600F traveling from Leipzig, Germany (LEJ) to London (LHR) was scheduled to arrive shortly after 5pm on Sunday and attempted to land on runway 9L. The plane’s left main gear is seen touching the ground before the right and then bouncing from side to side. But after a few seconds, the plane rose sharply. The aircraft then took off again and was lined up for another approach, landing on runway 9R approximately 20 minutes later without incident.

When the plane touched down, engine thrust was reduced and spoilers were deployed. The crew apparently attempted to avoid a potentially hard nose gear impact by making a sharp bank.

Powered by Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines, the A300 aircraft initially served as passenger aircraft on Japanese aircraft carriers before being converted.

This dramatic event occurred again on Sunday, when a plane crashed in Tarrant County, Texas. According to local media reports, the plane crashed into the ground and collided with several vehicles, including several tractor trailers, creating a fire and thick black smoke that could be seen for miles.

Many fire trucks and emergency service teams were dispatched to the scene, but it is not yet known how many people lost their lives in the incident.
