Logan Webb deletes X account after lashing out at reporter, Giants fans following embarrassing loss

The San Francisco Giants’ struggles throughout the season have been weighing heavily on Logan Webb, and his frustration has spilled over onto the internet for all to see.

On Wednesday, following a blowout loss to the Blue Jays at Oracle Park, the All-Star pitcher began trading barbs with critics of the X and eventually deleted his account.

Then the roundtrip started. KNBRs Jack Loder released a video criticizing the Giants’ “leadership vacuum” and questioning whether Webb was consistently fulfilling his duty as the team’s ace.

“When you have to have someone be your ace, you think they’re going to give you the best chance to win every week,” Loder said. “Logan Webb had a great June, was bad in April, missed most of May. I’ve said over the years that he’s a great Giant, like I really appreciated his tenure with the Giants. But he’s always been a little bit lacking.”

Webb lost control and went after Loder, writing: “You know the sad thing is they let people like you into the locker room.”

When KNBR anchor Adam Copeland chimed in, Webb silenced him with a quick swipe:

“Who are you?”

When a user called their public response embarrassing, Webb replied, “Do you get paid by KNBR?” he asked sternly.

To another critical comment, he replied: “Honestly, you probably don’t know anything about some loser sitting on the couch who didn’t make the little league team.”

Whether Webb returns to the X or not, he still has a lot of catching up to do.

Back and forth on social media followed the miserable night on the mound.

Webb surrendered five first-inning runs, including a grand slam to Kazuma Okamoto. He decided to go seven innings, but the bullpen unraveled and the Giants’ offense was barely hit by Dylan Cease, going 10-0.

Fresh off a successful run at Tennessee, first-year manager Tony Vitello is going through a tough first season, and his intense college coaching style is coming under increasing scrutiny as the losses pile up.

Webb is heading to the All-Star game next week.

But instead of answering questions about his season, he’ll likely respond to his meltdown on social media.
