China diplomat tipped as next foreign minister detained by authorities – report | China
Liu Jianchao, a senior Chinese diplomat seen as a potential future Foreign Minister, was detained by the authorities for inquiry. Wall Street reported Journal.
Liu reported that he was taken to Beijing after returning to Beijing in late July.
The Chinese State Council Information Office and the Chinese Communist Party International Liaison Department, which manages media queries for the Chinese government, did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comments.
