Looking Back, We Felt We Needed To Add More To Bowling : Rishabh Pant

Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant will see a better performance in the TATA IPL 2026 after a disappointing season last year. Speaking on JioStar’s ‘IPL Today Live’, Pant shared his thoughts on LSG’s pre-season camp in Chennai, how the addition of former India bowling coach Bharat Arun has benefited the young LSG fast bowlers and his mindset heading into the new season.
Speaking on JioStar’s ‘IPL Today Live’, LSG Captain Rishabh Pant talked about his team’s pre-season camp and the addition of Bharat Arun as bowling coach:
“The camp with the fast bowlers has been fantastic. Bharat Arun sir has joined us and he has been adding a lot of value since he came. We had a lot of conversations about what I want from the bowlers and what he thinks he can add. The energy is pure. He is one of the best bowling coaches and I have that trust having worked with the Indian cricket team. He brings that experience. The bowlers trust him and they open up to him. That is exactly what we expect from a bowling coach who adds value to the system. Looking back at last season, we need to add more to our bowling.” “He is definitely someone who can contribute a lot to this field and I am really happy to have him.”
On being the most fun-loving person in the locker room:
“I think everyone loves fun these days because the environment is already very stressful. Everyone wants to enjoy each other’s company, you can feel that feeling, the love, the joy. If you are carrying a lot of stress and you are not enjoying it, sometimes you cannot give your best. You don’t want to see it as work. I say this a lot as kids, why did we play cricket? Yes, there is a lot at stake, there is a lot to lose and the risks will continue to increase. It is higher, but you should not stop enjoying the game and having fun, I think that is something that is missing these days and players can bring that back.” They will be much happier if they bring it.”
What’s on your mind as you head into the new edition of TATA IPL:
“I think I’m in a good place physically and mentally. I like to work on myself every day and I enjoy it because you have to give yourself time to keep improving. As long as you’re playing cricket, it’s important. All the seniors I’ve talked to tell me that in cricket you can’t take it for granted even one day. Today may be your day, but tomorrow it may not be and that can change again the next day. So keep working hard. Decision-making and management situations are important, but even when things are going well it’s important to constantly work to improve yourself. I believe there are only two scenarios in life; you’re either doing well.” or you are doing well, there is no such thing as bad. Most of the time you don’t appreciate your journey, where you came from and how hard you worked to get where you are.
