Lord who paid for Starmer and Rayner freebies named in Epstein Files | Politics | News

The name of the Labor Lord who gave Sir Keir Starmer a gift of more than £30,000 in exchange for designer suits and glasses has emerged in the Epstein files. Waheed Alli, or Lord Alli, was at the center of one of the first scandals of this Labor Government when he was revealed to be Sir Keir’s biggest personal donor. The then Deputy Chancellor Angela Rayner was also implicated in the revelations when she admitted receiving around £3,550 from Lord Alli for work clothes.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves was also embroiled in the so-called ‘Freebiegate’ story when she admitted receiving a donation from another Labor supporter, Juliet Rosenfield, which was also used to pay for clothes. The Prime Minister, Ms Reeves and Ms Rayner said they would no longer accept donations to pay for clothes in 2024 following the backlash. But in what appears to be another headache for Sir Keir, Lord Alli has now appeared in the Epstein Files as being linked to notorious billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

The Prime Minister has already come under pressure following the release of documents by the US Department of Justice (DoJ) mentioning Peter Mandelson, the Labor kingpin whom Sir Keir appointed as US ambassador, who is said to have known about Lord Mandelson’s links to Epstein.

Mail on Sunday It reported that emails uncovered by the DoJ from millions of files on Epstein showed that Lord Alli was on the list of guests to attend a dinner hosted by Epstein at the Monkey Bar restaurant in New York in February 2010.

His wife was also listed as a guest at a large dinner in August 2010, but it is not known whether Lord Alli attended either event.

In an email, Epstein, who died in a New York prison in 2019, wrote the title of the communication to himself as “contacts.”

Lord Alli’s and Peter Mandelson’s names appear in the email, and Lord Alli also appears in another email purportedly from May 2012. In this message, Epstein tells a friend that Mandelson and Lord Alli are staying on Shelter Island in the Hamptons near New York, known as the playground for America’s elite.

In an exchange between Epstein and businesswoman Jennie Enterprise about the Hamptons, he allegedly asked, “yeah…are you close?” he writes, to which Epstein responds with a message full of typos and grammatical errors. He replies: “No, my fined Peter Mandel son, former ministerial prime minister Engalnd’ Gay, is currently on the sanctuary island, along with Walid, another black gay man.”

It was revealed in The Mail on Sunday that “Walid” was a reference to Lord Alli, who, like Mandelson, was gay. According to the newspaper, Lord Alli has a property on Shelter Island that is currently for sale.

Lord Alli’s lawyer told the publication: “Lord Alli never knowingly met or contacted Jeffrey Epstein.”
