Los Angeles pitcher Alex Vesia and wife Kayla announce heartbreaking death of infant daughter

“Our little angel, we love you forever and you are always with us,” the post began.
“Our beautiful daughter went to heaven on Sunday, October 26th. There are no words to describe the pain we feel, but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we spent with her.”
Vesias also expressed gratitude for the support of the Dodgers organization, the Toronto Blue Jays and baseball fans, as well as the medical staff at Cedars‑Sinai Medical Center who helped Kayla and her daughters.
Early in the postseason, the Dodgers announced that Vesia would not be on the World Series roster due to a “deeply personal family matter.” With this announcement, the full extent of the situation was not made public at the time.
During the Fall Classic, the Dodgers’ bullpen paid tribute to Vesia by writing his jersey number 51 on their hats at the start of Game 3; In subsequent games, the Blue Jays’ bullpen joined in the gesture. The Dodgers were fully aware of Vesia’s situation and chose to keep the details secret. Reflecting this sensitivity, Will Klein, the protagonist of Game 3, said on October 28: ‘I want them to share their stories when they are ready, but we keep them in our thoughts and prayers. There are bigger things than baseball and it is in all of our hearts. Vesia has become a beloved and trusted member of the team since joining the Dodgers in a trade from the Miami Marlins in 2021. He was expected to play a major role for Los Angeles in the Fall Classics until an unimaginable personal tragedy sidelined him.
