A Labor MP was met with chants of “shame on you” as he spoke to his constituents after a terror attack in Golders Green. Speaking after two men were stabbed in what she described as a “horrific” anti-Semitic incident, Sarah Sackman was told to “resign” by Jewish members of her community.

He added: “Attacks on British Jews are an attack on Britain itself.” Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said he would visit Golders Green “as soon as possible”. Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch and Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp also traveled to the community on Wednesday.

Jewish security group Shomrim said in a statement on social media that a man had been arrested after he was seen running along Golders Green Road with a knife and “attempting to stab Jewish members of the public”.

The disturbing attack prompted calls for action from the chief rabbi and Israel’s foreign ministry, following a series of incidents targeting Jewish sites in London.

An eyewitness to Wednesday’s incident said one of the victims was bleeding from his neck as the suspect walked away from the scene.

The 45-year-old suspect tried to stab officers when stopped in Golders Green and was shot with a stun gun before being arrested.

Two victims, one in his 70s and the other in his 30s, are in a stable condition in hospital following the attack on Highfield Avenue shortly after 11am.

The London Ambulance Service confirmed the attacker was also taken to hospital and a Shomrim volunteer said he saw CPR being administered to him.

Unverified footage on social media shows an elderly man wearing a kippah as he waits at a bus stop before the attacker attacks him.

A pizza shop worker on Golders Green Road said he helped stab the elderly victim after seeing blood coming from his neck.

Police said they were working to determine the attacker’s “nationality and background” and that the investigation was being carried out by the Counter Terrorism Police.

Head of Counter Terrorism Policing, Laurence Taylor, said: “While I must emphasize that this investigation is at an early stage, we are working rapidly to understand exactly what happened.

“We would like to thank those who were in the area at the time and supported the response to this horrific incident.”

The crime scene is about a half-mile from the memorial wall where the arson attempt took place on Monday and near where four Jewish community ambulances were destroyed by fire in late March.

These are among a spate of alleged attacks on Jewish sites in London in recent weeks.
