A federal judge in Louisiana earlier this month released four illegal immigrants in law enforcement custody with lengthy criminal records that included convictions for murder and child sex crimes.
The Department of Homeland Security said on Feb. 6 that Obama-appointed Judge John deGravelles, sitting on the Louisiana Middle District Court bench, ordered the release of the four defendants from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody.
“The consequences will only be continued rape, murder, assault, and robbery of more American victims,” said DHS Deputy Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “Releasing these monsters is an inexcusable act of recklessness. President Trump and Secretary Noem are currently enforcing the law and detaining illegal aliens who have no right to be in our country.”

“We follow the law as it is written,” he added. “If an immigration judge finds that an illegal alien has no right to be in this country, we will remove him. Period.”
Among the four defendants is Ibrahim Ali Mohammed, an Ethiopian citizen who was convicted of sexual abuse of a minor. An immigration judge issued him a final deportation order on September 5, 2024.
He was released to the United States by the Biden administration.
