Low-pressure area likely to bring rain in Western Ghat districts

The prominent low pressure area over the southwestern Bay of Bengal gradually curved towards the northeast and lay over the same region at 5.30 pm on Sunday, the Regional Meteorological Center in Chennai said.

It is very likely to continue moving towards the northeast over the southwestern Bay of Bengal in the next 36 hours.

Light to moderate rain is expected in isolated places in the Western Ghat districts.

RMC has predicted dry weather for the rest of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and Karaikal region on Monday and Tuesday.

Fog will prevail

Fog or haze will prevail in isolated pockets of Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvallur, Chennai and Kancheepuram during the early morning hours of Monday and Tuesday.

On Sunday, rains occurred at isolated places in the state (a few places on the south coast of Tamil Nadu and isolated places in the rest of the state), while dry weather prevailed in Puducherry and Karaikal district.
