Lucknow man shoots father in fit of rage; dismembers body

In a statement on Monday, February 23, 2026, the police claimed that a 21-year-old man shot and killed his father in a fit of anger, and to hide the murder, he cut off parts of the body and hid the remaining body in a drum and threw it away.

The deceased has been identified as Manvendra Singh (50), who was killed by his son Akshat Singh (21), Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Vikrant Vir said on Monday.

Mr Vir said the police were conducting an ongoing investigation into a missing person registered at Ashiana police station.

As part of the investigation, Akshat Pratap Singh, son of Manvendra Singh, the son of the missing person, was extensively interrogated. During the interrogation, the defendant admitted that there was an argument between him and his father at around 4.30 in the morning on February 20 due to an issue. In a fit of rage, he shot his father, resulting in his death, police said.

After the incident, the defendant took the victim’s body down from the third floor and put it in an empty room on the ground floor in order to hide the evidence. He allegedly cut up the body parts and threw them away. He hid the remaining body in a drum.

Upon receiving news about the incident, senior officials investigated the scene and called the forensic medicine team. The forensic team examines the scene in detail and collects evidence.

The defendant has been arrested and a lawsuit will be filed against the defendant in the relevant departments.

Police reported that the body of the deceased was sent to Ankara for autopsy.
