Preston Davey’s killer Jamie Varley spent the first night of his entire life “sobbing and shaking” in his cell at ‘Monster Mansion’, insiders claim; The screaming delays warned that they would make him pay.

Angry prisoners are said to have given the perverts the “conventional prisoners welcome” treatment, banging on the bars and warning that his time was limited for the horrific abuse he subjected little Preston to.

Varley faced chilling threats when he arrived at HMP Wakefield, known as Monster Manor, where he was transferred directly following sentencing at Preston Crown Court last week.

Varley was given a life sentence for the horrific abuse of adopted 13-month-old baby Preston. After an eight-week trial, the 37-year-old man was found guilty of murder, sexual assault and other heinous crimes against children.

The harsh reality of his new existence seemed to “hit” him, insiders said, as he spent his first night crying in his cell. Daily Star.

“It was quite fascinating about what the rest of his life would be like,” a source told the Daily Star exclusively.

“Varley was in for a rude awakening if he thought he was going to get the easy way out. He’s probably one of the most hated men in Britain now, and he’s in prison too.

“He has a bounty on his head, everyone wants to be the first to hurt him and he became very aware of that going into prison.

“The other inmates knew he was coming and they waited for him. They want him to be afraid and they want his time in there to be as bad as they can – and now he knows he has plenty of time to serve inside. He can never get out, there is no way out of this hell for him.”

It is understood Varley is currently being held in isolation. This means he will spend most of his time isolated in his cell, without contact with others, while guards monitor him around the clock to ensure his safety.

“Over time he will be allowed to move around a little more, but every time he leaves his cell he will probably be surrounded by guards, they have a duty to take care of him,” the insider added.

“Last night he was greeted with loud banging and shouting, as were his fellow inmates who had been waiting for his arrival when they learned that a prison van was arriving to drop off the new arrivals.

“He was whispering to himself and spent the whole night sobbing in his cell. He must have thought an attack was inevitable, it’s just a matter of time.”

Mental health experts are also expected to be brought to the Category A facility in West Yorkshire to assess his psychological state as he is kept under 24-hour suicide watch.

“High-profile prisoners are often appointed to this role as a matter of protocol,” the source added. “But in this case it is probably a necessary and real possibility. What is he living for?”.

Wakefield is among Britain’s most notorious prisons, housing the country’s most dangerous criminals. It houses between 630 and 750 high-risk offenders, the vast majority serving long or indeterminate life sentences, including notable prisoners such as Harold Shipman, Levi Bellfield, Ian Huntley and Charles Bronson.

“Things aren’t going to get better for her anytime soon,” the insider continued. “In fact, with each day he survives, the reward for eliminating him will increase.

“The guards certainly have a duty to keep him safe.”

The current whereabouts of Varley’s partner John McGowan-Fazakerley are unknown, but insiders suggest he is likely being held at HMP Manchester (Strangeways) or HMP Full Sutton.
