M1 traffic LIVE: Motorway closed after truck overturns near East Midlands Airport | UK | News

Traffic is increasing on the M1 motorway after a cattle truck overturned and the northbound lane was closed on Thursday morning.

The crash occurred on the northbound M1 between Junction 23 for Loughborough and Junction 23A for the A41, M42 and East Midlands Airport.

Leicestershire Police confirmed the closure and said it was due to a “road traffic accident”. National Highways said “a trailer carrying cattle was involved in a collision and overturned.”

A spokesman for Leicestershire Police said: “The incident was reported just after 6.20am. The driver was not injured and no one was arrested.”

The closure is still ongoing.
