M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle Appears In Russia With Locally Made 30mm Cannon

An interesting photo of a M2 Bradley Infantry War Vehicle (IFV), which was captured by Russia and equipped with Russian -made 30mm ball instead of the original Bushmaster of the vehicle, emerged. M242 25mm automatic ball. It is unclear whether the installation is intended for operational use, for trials or for a different purpose, but other unusual changes have emerged in armored vehicles since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.

Bradley, seen in the photograph, is one of the examples of the Ukrainian Armed Forces caught largely intact by Russia. The place and history of the photograph are not known as the original source, but the Bradley appears in a warehouse next to the armor provided by the other West caught from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Some wondered how the Russians could use Bradley. Well, that way:

You can read everything about Bradley and what it brings to the fight in Ukraine. This is our past feature.

The most interesting thing, Russian technicians, probably the best BTR-82 wheeled armored personnel carrier, known as the main gun of the 30mm 2a72 ball, known as the main gun.

2A72, BMP-2 Infantry War Vehicle, BMD-2 and BMD-3 war vehicles in the air, BTR-90 armored personnel carrier as well as KA-52 hokum and MI-28 Havok attack helicopters are a lower weight development of a 30 mm weapon.

2A72 A fire ratio 330 bullets per minute send its ammunition to an effective range almost one mile away against an armored vehicle. This is a faster fire rate than the impressive. 200 rounds per minute It was accomplished by Bushmaster.

Against soft targets such as infantry, the effective range of 2A72 increases about 1.2 miles. Ammunition options include armored design tracer (AP-T), High Explian Fragmentation-Exchange (Hef-I) and High Explosif Tracer (HE-T) ammunition.

A Russian Defense ministry video shows that during an exercise, BTR-82A mobilized 2a72 weapons:

As for Bushmaster, this is a weapon we have discussed in the context of Bradley used in Ukraine. Bushmaster can fire two different types of ammunition from boxes to automatic installer. The artillery sitting on the left of the tank commander can turn a key to choose between high explosives (HE) tours to hit light armored vehicles. OBROADED URANIUM (DU) Sabot tours with armor to hit heavier armored vehicles such as IFVs and even tanks. Artillery can also choose between single or multiple firing modes.

“Our Tours can fully hit one side of an armored personnel carrier or infantry fighting tool (such as BRDM or BMP), and will have enough kinetic power to disable another side,” he said. TwzHe speaks on condition of anonymity.

Recognized videos show that Ukrainian Bradley fired 25mm bullets from Bushmaster weapons in the Russian T-90m main war tank at a relatively close distance:

There are three things you can watch forever. This Ukrainian M2 Bradley IFV destroys a «analogue» Russian T-90m tank.

More than 300 samples for Bradley’s M2a2 ODS version have been provided to Ukraine by the United States since April 2023. Accordingly ORYX open source monitoring groupAt least 12 Ukrainian Bradley, who recorded the losses, which were visually approved, were caught by the Russian forces, and more were abandoned after being damaged or explicitly destroyed. At least abandoned, but still unspoiled vehicles may enter Russian hands and may be repaired.

A possible reason behind the modification may be related to Russian operational use of caught Bradley.

There evidence Russia’s Bradley on the battlefield uses limitedly. At least one official video shows that Russian troops from the Central Army Group were disabled by a mine, and the Russian troops running a Bradley that was caught after returning to the run order. After entering the Russian service, the vehicle was equipped with additional anti-immediately protection ‘Cope Cage‘To the top of the body.

In the same video, a Russian soldier explains that Bradley was rewarded for his heavy armor, the size of the unity compartment and the sophisticated fire control system.

Another soldier shows that they prefer the 30mm pistol in BMP-2 to Bushmaster, which is still stuck in the vehicle, but will be limited to the limited supply of the appropriate ammunition.

Obviously, at least some facades think that it is useful to run the caught Bradley, even if they are a small number of Russian units, supportive logistics chain or ammunition stocks.

We may also be looking at a test installation to examine whether it is possible to re -armed Bradley with a Russian main weapon.

The Russian gun can be designed for propaganda purposes while standing for Bushmaster to be displayed at or within the passage ceremony. Captured Western equipment collections.

The Bradley (with the original weapons) captured were previously exhibited among the spoils of war in Russia, Here. Considering the popular nature of such exhibitions, this may even be the most likely explanation.

There is also a precedent of changes in the original weapons in the armor captured. M1A1 Abrams The main war tank shown in Russia with a broken barrel Reconnected upside down.

In addition to serving propaganda purposes, the captured Bradley also provides the chance to take a closer look at Russia to Western armor. Recently, Russia’s Defense Holding Holding Holding Rostec CEO, which has been operated by the state, has criticized various western armored vehicles used by Ukraine, including Bradley. report On the company website.

Although Chemezov emphasizes Bradley’s good crew protection and the level of internal layout, he expresses doubts about his tactical activity.

“Some experts, including us, praise Bradley. I think this is an unfair enthusiasm. We looked from all sides: Yes, there are some positive in terms of protection and unity compartment comfort. However, this does not prevent our weapons from destroying the vehicle with the crew and passengers.”

On December 4, 2023, there was a Ukrainian soldier near Avdiivka, Donbas and a Bradley in Ukraine.

Chemezov further criticizes Bradley’s land mobility and lack of amphibious capacity (something that is a basic part of the design ethics of Russian IFVs).

“Bradley has a serious weak point: problems with mobility, Chen Chemezov continues. “It becomes stuck in the soil, becomes an easy target because of its large size. And ultimately, what is the same use of better protection? Almost all Bradles delivered to Ukraine are not a tank.

Of course, Chemezov’s comments A lot It was largely colored with the fact that it was to sell competing defense equipment to both the Russian state and to a decreasing number of foreign customers. In the meantime, there are more than one documented examples that Ukrainian Bradley has survived more than one direct hit and supports the effects of drone strikes or mines. The fact that Russia’s ability to capture damaged vehicles and run them again is a proof of their durability.

On the other hand, Chemezov is right to indicate that Ukrainian Bradley losses are heavy. According to the figures from Oryx, there are documented evidence that 177 Ukrainian Bradley was destroyed, damaged and later abandoned or caught. However, as long as the applicable bradley can be recovered by Russia, it can be used only, even temporarily.

Although it is not possible to bring together a more comprehensive Bradles fleet to guarantee a more comprehensive program to re -place it with domestic weapons, the appearance of at least one of the Russian -made 30mm IFVs is absolutely worthy of innovation.
