M25 traffic chaos after lorry overturns

Drivers were faced with traffic chaos while part of the M25 motorway was closed as a result of a truck overturning.
The M25 in Surrey is closed anti-clockwise between J10 (Cobham) and J9 (Leatherhead) due to a collision that caused a lorry to overturn.
Emergency Services, including Surrey Ambulance Service, were at the scene while dramatic footage showed a blue lorry on its side.
National Highways said traffic officers were also on the scene to assist with traffic management, while motorists were told to expect delays.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time if they are affected by the closure.
“Plan ahead, you may want to change your route or even postpone your trip,” he said.
While the incident is expected to affect traffic for several hours, it is estimated that traffic will return to normal between 17.30 and 17.45.
National Highways estimates delays of up to one hour between J11 and J10.
Surrey Police said: “We are responding to a counter-clockwise collision on the M25 between Junction 10 (#Cobham) and 9 (#Leatherhead). All four lanes are currently closed. Please find an alternative route and avoid the area if possible. Thank you for your patience.”
Drivers are advised to follow directional signs along the following route:
- At the roundabout exit the M25 at J10 (Wisley Junction) and take exit 1 onto the A3 towards London.
- Follow the A3 motorway to Tolworth
- Take the exit sign at the A240 Tolworth Junction and take the 3rd exit at the roundabout onto the A240 towards Reigate.
- Continue onto A24 at Organ junction
- At the A24 Ewell Bypass roundabout take exit 1 of the A240 towards Reigate.
- At the A240/A217 Burg Heath junction, turn right at the traffic signals onto the A217 towards Reigate
- Follow the A217 to the M25
- M25 Take exit 1 at J8 (Reigate Hill Junction) and rejoin the M25 at J8.
