M5 traffic LIVE: Closure with ‘long delays’ following police incident | UK | News

A busy section of the M5 motorway was closed this evening as emergency services attended following a “police incident”. The southbound section of the motorway between junction 18 (Avonmouth) and junction 19 (Portishead) is closed “while emergency services respond to concerns about the welfare incident”.

Traffic monitoring website Inrix reported “long delays due to police incident” from junction 18 M49 to junction 19 A369 Martcombe Road (Portishead). There is also heavy traffic to junction 17 (Cribbs Causeway).” An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: “The M5 southbound is currently closed between junction 18 (Avonmouth) and junction 19 (Portishead) while emergency services respond to concerns about a welfare incident. The northbound carriageway remains open at this time.”]
