M5 traffic LIVE: Snow chaos as trucks slide on motorway during Storm Goretti | UK | News

M5 motorists faced long delays on Thursday as heavy snowfall from heavy Storm Goretti battered the region. Motorists faced a partial closure of the M5 northbound between junctions J4 and J3 due to weather conditions on the evening of 8 January. National Highways said two out of three lanes were closed as of 8.50pm.

“We have traffic officers, snow plows, winter salting and heavy rescue units,” the organization said in an update published after 9 p.m. The organization said there were delays of up to 60 minutes in the region. Traffic cameras taken shortly before 9 p.m. show trucks sliding on the highway. It comes after various weather warnings were issued by the Met Office ahead of the storm, which is currently swamping the country with heavy snow, wind and rain, reaching the UK.
