Machetes and swords get the chop as new laws begin

Palas or sword holders have three months to deliver their weapons, as they are compatible with an Australian -wide pressure on another state of dangerous blades.

The surrender of the blades to be classified as a forbidden weapon came into force in South Australia since July.

After the passage of challenging new laws after a series of knives in Victoria, they can be given anonymously by the end of September.

The SA movement also comes after Victoria, NSW, Queensland and WA introduces challenging laws to combat an increasing number of knives in recent months.

The SA government raises the age of purchasing for all dangerous blades from 16 to 18, as well as the ban on the palas and swords.

“We acted quickly and stable in response to inter -state events to prepare the most powerful laws in the country to protect our community from the threat of a knife offense.” He said.

“We did not enter that stage in South Australia with some of these events … Between the states, but the definite point of passing such laws so that we do not come to this point.”

The laws also expand the crimes around the presence of knives and aggressive weapons in schools, children’s care centers, universities and places of worship.
