Madagascar’s President Flees Saying Life Was in Danger

Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina said he was seeking shelter in a “safe place” due to threats to his life after weeks of anti-government demonstrations. Rajoelina did not disclose where he was going, but in a social media post he claimed that he left the country, saying he was supervising the delivery of electricity generators to Madagascar. The development follows allegations from Rajoelina’s office over the weekend that there was an attempt to seize power. Bloomberg’s Ondiro Oganga reported.
