Multiple dead, several wounded after mass shooting at Brown University

Local resident describes moments after the shooting at the university: ‘I never heard of anything like this’
Elias Christian, a Providence resident who lives just a few blocks from Brown University’s Barus and Holley engineering and physics building, said he first sensed something was wrong when he heard emergency vehicles racing toward campus Saturday evening.
“I haven’t lived here very long, just a few years, but I haven’t heard of anything like this happening,” Christian told Fox News Digital. “… This is kind of known as the safe part of the city and has a safer reputation overall.”
He said the conflict was particularly traumatic because of where it occurred.
“This is kind of the heart of Brown,” he said.
Christian stated that the police had the situation “under control” and that he was not very afraid.
But when the chaos began, he realized it must have been “much scarier” for those nearby.
“I’m sure it was a lot scarier for the people who were here before it was brought under control,” Christian said. “And all the students in this building and throughout the district.”
